Have you joined a French Meetup.com group? There is a local one here in Raleigh that I just joined and I saw “Jean de Florette” – a classic French film of love and betrayal set in the French countryside, with a young Gerard Depardieu. Oh la la! The sequel “Manon de la Source” was shown at the end of March – join the group if you want details on upcoming events -

Here is another way to get used to French – by watching French plays. This is a commercial for the 2009 Quebec production of “Les Miserables” – one of my favorite French films/plays of all time – I saw it on Broadway and in Europe and love the 1998 film too with Liam Neeson (but it doesn’t have the singing in the play which is incredible!! Still love the songs to this day) :)

The French versions of these songs translate differently than the English (just look at all the songs on You Tube that are part of Les Miserables) but I finally found one that translates the French literally into English – the song “On My Own” is “Mon Histoire (My Story)” in French. So if you know ANY French you can go along with her as she sings, and see the English translation to make sure you understand – best way to learn! :) Comment below if you enjoyed watching this…

Here is another way to practice your French – through a series of videos such as this one.

I found a great guy online named Alain and he has created his own video series on http://www.jefrench.com. I am sharing these free videos online with you because he sends them to me on a weekly basis to introduce me to what he does (as a native French teacher), and if you want them sent to you for free – sign up for his email “course”.

After each video, he will give you access to the full version of his videos, and a great way to get the whole series very affordably. I have recently purchased the whole series of videos, and have the PDFs as well for all of my students to study from! He also has audios that you can listen to in your car to practice. The more you can see and listen to French, and practice, the better and more comfortable you will get with it! :)

So you may order the series from him, or learn it from me – your choice!! Please email me at carytutor@gmail.com if you would like to discuss taking lessons from me on Skype.
